Delivery Manager Team Lead
The Delivery Management Team Lead is accountable for the overall health of delivery across the product and engineering function, with a particular focus on Jira governance, visibility of capacity and the accuracy of delivery data. You will be the Jira administrator for the organisation, taking ownership of workflows, dashboards and reporting, ensuring that Jira provides a single, reliable view of progress, resource capacity, risks and upcoming milestones. You will respond to ad hoc queries from senior stakeholders, interpret trends across quarters and make recommendations that support greater efficiency and predictability.
Alongside this, you will be responsible for the delivery of several squads, supported by a Delivery Manager. You will work closely with product managers, product owners and engineering leads to ensure that planned work aligns with capacity and that delivery remains on track. You will lead a small team of Delivery Managers, providing guidance, support and consistent standards across squads.
This role suits someone who combines strong organisational skills with a practical understanding of delivery data, Agile ways of working and cross functional planning.
Key Responsibilities
Jira Ownership and Delivery Visibility
• Take full ownership of Jira administration, including workflows, plans, fields and permissions
• Maintain and improve Jira dashboards to give clear visibility of delivery health, capacity, dependencies and risks
• Ensure Jira remains accurate, current and able to answer key delivery questions for senior stakeholders
• Analyse delivery trends across quarters, identifying patterns and making recommendations for improvement
• Provide clear, timely responses to ad hoc queries from the executive committee and senior leadership
• Work with product and engineering to ensure that planned work matches available capacity
Overall Delivery Health
• Maintain a high level view of progress across all squads, supported by Delivery Managers
• Ensure risks, blockers and slippages are identified early and escalated appropriately
• Oversee delivery processes and promote consistency across squads
• Use delivery metrics to assess efficiency and suggest improvements
• Support squads to ensure time is logged accurately
Squad Oversight and Collaboration
• Take responsibility for delivery across several squads, with day to day support from a Delivery Manager
• Work closely with the product and engineering leads to keep priorities aligned
• Maintain visibility of dependencies, upcoming milestones and cross team impacts
• Support clear communication between squads and stakeholders
Leadership and Team Development
• Provide guidance and support to Delivery Managers, encouraging a collaborative and high performing culture
• Hold regular one to ones, development conversations and check ins
• Contribute to recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning
• Encourage knowledge sharing, consistency and continuous improvement across the delivery function
Skills and Attributes
Essential
• Extensive experience working with Jira at an administrative level
• Strong understanding of delivery metrics, capacity planning and Agile processes
• Proven ability to interpret delivery data and identify trends
• Clear communication skills for senior stakeholders, including non-technical audiences
• Ability to oversee several workstreams and maintain overall delivery visibility
• Experience leading or guiding a delivery or project function
• Collaborative approach with experience working with product and engineering teams
Desirable
• Familiarity with UK educational or regulatory bodies
• Experience using data visualisation tools
• Background in software or technology delivery
